Field hockey holds a special place in our company because of AstroTurf’s long history with hockey. Over the past 40 years, AstroTurf has been proud to have created and provided thousands of water-based and standard field systems specifically for field hockey training and competition. The AstroTurf brand is synonymous with artificial turf, so much so that people still use the brand name ‘AstroTurf’ when they mean artificial turf (see the section below ‘The AstroTurf Brand Name – A Clarification’). AstroTurf is proud to be a member of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and a member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). It is also an honor for AstroTurf to have been selected to serve as the Official Supplier of Synthetic Pitches to the European Hockey Federation (EHF) through the year 2010. There is no doubt that AstroTurf is the preferred surface for competition level field hockey. No other product or brand comes close. Over the years, AstroTurf products have been chosen more often than all other synthetic turf products combined. This makes us an expert in the artificial turf business -- especially since we've been creating and installing AstroTurf for over four decades now!

AlphaSan® Antimicrobial Technology

On natural grass and synthetic turf surfaces, bacteria find their way onto the field and fibers. This is particularly apparent in tropical climates such as in Malaysia and South East Asia. The bacteria reproduce and continue reproducing causing foul odors, discoloration, black spots, corrosion, bio fouling among other problems.

On AstroTurf synthetic surfaces treated with AlphaSan® antimicrobial technology, the bacteria’s growth is hindered and stopped by the AlphaSan antimicrobial ions. This makes AstroTurf safer for players, more durable and longer lasting. This registered new innovative technology is manufactured by and proprietary only to AstroTurf.

AstroTurf Affiliations - Supporting Field Hockey Everywhere

	International Hockey Federation (FIH): AstroTurf is proud to be a member of the FIH. In many ways, the FIH serves as the 'guardian' of the sport. It works in co-operation with both the national and continental organisations to ensure consistency and unity in hockey around the world. We applaud the FIH for ensuring consistency and unity in the sport worldwide, as well as for promoting its development.
	European Hockey Federation (EHF): It's an honor for our AstroTurf to have been selected to serve as the Official Supplier of Synthetic Pitches to EHF through the year 2010. That's a total of 15 consecutive years in this prestigious role!
	National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA): AstroTurf is also now to be a proud to member of the NFHCA. The NFHCA is a non-profit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. We were also thrilled to serve as the Official Sponsor of the AstroTurf 2003 Women and Men's European Nations Cup, that was held on the world's best performing surfaces in Barcelona in September, 2003.

The AstroTurf BRAND NAME – A Clarification

There has been a lot of confusion in the market on the brand ‘Astroturf’ and the general product of artificial turf. ‘AstroTurf’ is actually a registered brand name. There is only ONE AstroTurf in the world. Sports Tech Pro Sdn Bhd is the exclusive distributor and installer of AstroTurf in Malaysia. AstroTurf is one of the many artificial turf brands in the market. There are other artificial turf brands in the world, but they are NOT AstroTurf. AstroTurf is the pioneer and first in artificial turf for hockey in the world and in Malaysia. Many other brands from all over the world claim to be 'AstroTurf' but actually there is only one AstroTurf brand. But AstroTurf is so famous that people think that artificial turf means 'AstroTurf'. It's the same for the word 'Jacuzzi'. Actually, Jacuzzi is a brand. But people use the word Jacuzzi to mean a bath with bubbles because the word Jacuzzi is so famous. Other famous brands that people things are products are 'Hoover' (vacuum cleaner). 'Xerox' (photocopier) and 'Bako' (projector). The AstroTurf brand and product is so good that everybody thinks that artificial turf means 'AstroTurf'!

22-23 February 2009 - The Indian hockey team take on New Zealand at the National Hockey Stadium in Wellington that uses AstroTurf System 90.
March 2009 - EHL 2009 Play-offs on Astroturf. The European Hockey Champions League (EHL) is again on Astroturf with top clubs only wanting the best artificial hockey turf. The EHL was won by Germany Club UHC Hamburg in 2007 /2008 on Astroturf, at the world's best hockey club, Rotterdam HC that provides 3 AstroTurf hockey fields.
